It bothers me when people want rewards without putting in the work. I think that fundamentally you should work to achieve rewards - and that is why botting bothers me. It's a question about integrity - the same reason I think people who climb ladders in Starcraft using the same cheese strategy over and over is fucking stupid. I get approval out of being good at a game, I'm no stranger to this notion at all - but botting and seeking the same approval without anything to back it up is horseshit. It doesn't help that they're awful players either. You're also assuming my entire reasoning is jealousy - how can you deduce jealousy out of these arguments? The botting wouldn't bother me if these players didn't log in and post their gear in reddit threads, brag about big crits or party with other players with vastly less gear (because they didn't cheat). But Diablo is not singleplayer, and we're presented with constant reminders of how our gear doesn't stack up to what you can achieve.

That's completely irrelevant to the point I'm making however! Botting is cheating, and perfectly acceptable in a singleplayer game.

You think maybe I should just start botting but you don't because you like to play by the rules. You're thinking damn that guy and his amazing gear that he didn't do shit to earn it. You work hard for your gear grinding away 3-4 hours a day and not getting anything really good and you look over and you see someone that's been online 24 hours a day for weeks and they're paragon level 600 and they have amazing gear and they've only actually played for an hour. Secondly, I think there is some jealousy - Not that jealousy is really bad. Even if you don't accept the items from them just having the botter in your game is affecting how you progress by increasing your kill speeds. If you accept these items you've had your game affected by someone else's cheating. Now his gear is good because his botter friend gives him gear and now he's able to give you gear. This can trickle down, if you group with a friend and he groups with someone that bots. If you group with someone that bots, they can toss you items that would normally be too good to just give away. I can see where OP is coming from though.įirst thing is that there IS trading with people in your group. Let me say that botting doesn't really bother me.
